Koraput Central University students protest over worms in hostel food, infra woes

The students of Central University of Odisha in Koraput district staged a protest on Thursday in front of the main entrance of the varsity demanding adequate facilities in the hostel.

“We are being provided with poor quality of food by the hostel staff. We have complained to the hostel warden several times but our efforts are in vain. Besides, our hostels do not have basic facilities like electricity, drinking water, library and healthcare,” alleged a student.

Another student said, “The basic hostel facilities in the university are really concerning and sometimes we receive food not in time. Besides, the campus is unable to provide us with proper drinking water for which a student suffered food poisoning.

Recently, we found bugs in our food which forced us to stage a protest against the mismanagement." 

The students have also alleged that they had previously taken their grievances to the university administration. However,

the varsity authorities did not address their issue prompting them to sit on dharna seeking fulfillment of their demands. 

The reaction of the varsity authorities on the allegations of the students could not be obtained.
