KIIT university row: Congress MLA demands arrest of founder and ex-BJD MP Achyuta Samanta
Demanding arrest of KIIT University founder and former BJD MP Achyuta Samanta, Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati on Friday called for a judicial inquiry into the allegations surrounding Kalinga Institute of Technology and Technology (KIIT), which is now in the news for the wrong reasons following the death of a girl student from Nepal and subsequent unrest in campus and mistreatment meted to other students.
While participating during the adjournment motion in the Odisha Assembly, the Congress MLA warned to stage a demonstration if a judicial probe is not ordered into the entire controversy surrounding KIIT University.
Bahinipati also questioned why no action has been taken against the KIIT University founder and former BJD MP Achyuta Samanta. The Congress MLA demanded arrest of Samanta in connection with the matter.
Expressing his intent to escalate matters with protests, Bahinipati stated, "Why has no action been taken against Achyuta Samanta till now?"
Bahinipati also questioned why has the woman accused of inappropriate behaviour not been arrested so far.
