Kidnapping suspected as two school girls go missing in Bhubaneswar, probe launched

Tension prevailed in Khandagiri area in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday evening after two girl students of Ghatikia Upper Primary School in the Smart City went missing under mysterious circumstances.

As per reports, both the girls studying in Class 6 stayed with their families at Khandagiri Bari. As usual, they went to school together on Wednesday, but did not return home.

Sources said the students were seen on their way home after the classes were over. But they never reached home. Nobody has seen anything that happened to them on the road.

The family members searched everywhere, at every friend’s and relative’s house, but in vain. They finally lodged a missing complaint at Bharatpur Police station at around 8 pm on Wednesday night suspecting a kidnap.

Following the complaint, the police sprang into action and formed a special team to investigate the matter. They are verifying CCTV footage at every point on the road connecting Ghatikia to Bharatpur.

The police have also questioned the missing students’ schoolmates and their teachers. But their whereabouts are still unknown.
