Two days after the death of Dr Subhashree Kar, 25, in Keonjhar’s  Joda area, the post mortem report came on Tuesday. The report revealed poisonous reaction inside the body caused the death.

Her body was sent to Keonjhar district headquarters hospital (DHH) for postmortem. The autopsy was done on Monday and the report arrived on Tuesday.

The report stated that the death was caused by poisonous reaction inside the body. During investigation, the police had recovered a bottle having some substance inside it from her room. Now it is being assumed that the substance inside the bottle may be poisonous and she had consumed some portion of it.

The police will send the bottle and the viscera to the forensic laboratory in Bhubaneswar for test.

But the mystery is what led to the lady doctor taking such an extreme step.

Notably, Dr Kar, who was posted at Baneikala Primary Health Centre at Joda in Keonjhar district, had celebrated the zero night with the staff till mid night and was visibly happy and content. The next morning she was found dead.  She used to live on the first floor of the health centre.

Just 10 days before her death, she had lodged a complaint against her boyfriend Dibyaranjan Majhi, also a doctor, at Joda police station on December 20.

Her complaint stated that she was in a relationship with Majhi for past six years. However, he had used her on the false promise of marriage. Later, he had been avoiding the issue. In this connection, her statement was also recorded at JMFC court in Barbil under Section 164 of CrPC.

The police are also investigating if the complaint has any link to her death as Dibyaranjan’s mobile has been switched off.

Meanwhile, Keonjhar police have formed a special team to trace out Dibyaranjan.
The elder brother of the deceased doctor’s father, Biswaranjan Kar, said, “She was our only daughter. The news of her death has left us shocked. We have faith on police investigation.”
