Kendrapara: Family alleges wrong injection given to 4-year-old
A shocking incident was reported from the sub-divisional medical facility at Pattamundai. The family of a four-year-old child has alleged that he was administered a wrong injection while being treated for fever.
The child, son of Ananda Malik from Matia village in Pattamundai, had a fever and was taken to the medical centre for treatment. The family claims that after receiving the injection prescribed by the doctor, the child’s condition deteriorated, and his left leg became immobile.
Despite approaching the hospital authorities and the local police station seeking justice, the family alleges that their complaints went unheard.
Demanding action, hundreds of villagers staged a protest in front of the Pattamundai hospital, raising slogans for accountability and justice. Tension prevailed in the area following the demonstration.
As of now, no response has been received from the police or the hospital authorities regarding the allegations.
“The doctor called me inside the chamber. I’m not lying, I’m saying this by touching my son’s body. He told that he had missed the injection and requested me not to protest. They gave injection in his waist and now he is paralysed. I have the prescription with me. When I went to lodge a complaint against the doctor, the IIC misbehaved with me and manhandled my wife,” the victim’s father alleged.
