Kalki Avatar of Odisha boy: Child Welfare Committee files suo motu case
The Child Welfare Committee on Sunday filed a suo motu case against a man for allegedly projecting his son as the reincarnation of Kalki avatar or Lord Vishnu. Furthermore, the commission has summoned a report from the Bharatpur Police Station regarding the incident.
A deadline of 15 days has been set for the submission of the report. Concurrently, instructions have been given to the District Child Protection Officer to investigate the matter thoroughly.
The accused has been identified as Kashinath Mishra who has been accused of using his son, projecting him as the Kalki Avatar. The controversy erupted after photographs of Mishra’s son surfaced, showing him sitting in a chair with sacred tulsi on his feet.

“We had received a written complaint about a man using his son for religious activities that is hurting the sentiments of people. Based on a complaint, we have sought a report from Bharatpur IIC. The District Child Protection Officer has also been directed to launch a probe into the incident,” informed Mandakini Kar, chairperson of the Odisha State Child Protection Rights Commission (OSCPPRC).
“We have given them 15 days to submit the report. Necessary action will be taken based on the report,” she added.
Earlier, a voluntary organisation had filed a complaint against Kashinath and his son in Bharatpur police station. However, Police have not registered a case but have received the complaint and started a probe.
“We have received a complaint that the father-son duo tried to hurt religious sentiments by projecting the son as an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. It is too premature to say conclusively what happened. A probe will be initiated to uncover the truth,” the Assistant Commissioner of Police Tapas Pradhan said.
