Junior Engineer falls sick after being caught while taking bribe by Odisha Vigilance , hospitalised

Caught red-handed while accepting a bribe by Odisha Vigilance, Purna Chandra Choudhry, the Junior Engineer of Kashipur block in Rayagada district had to be hospitalised after he fell sick, reports said. 

The Junior Engineer reportedly fell sick after Vigilance sleuths conducted multiple searches at his residence and other properties linked to him.

On Saturday, the Junior Engineer was apprehended by a Vigilance team while allegedly taking a bribe of Rs.25,000 from a Gaon Saathi to measure the work executed and to facilitate the release of labour payment under the MGNREG scheme.

In this connection, the Koraput Vigilance has registered a case under section 7 P.C (Amendment) Act, 2018 and further investigation is in progress.

Sources said that the Vigilance sleuths will conduct further searches at the residence of the Junior Engineer, other properties, and his quarters at Kashipur. So far, Rs 14 lakh cash, gold, and other silver ornaments have reportedly been detected.
