'Join hands with Congress & form new govt in Odisha': BJD MP's comments spark row

BJD MP Debashish Samantaray's comments on stage at a public meeting in Paradip Kujang have triggered a political row in the State.

In a purported video, the Rajya Sabha member was heard saying to party workers that there are 7 cases filed in Orissa High Court.

In the byelections to be held in the concerned places, if Naveen Babu just visits & waves his hands then we will win. If required we will join hands with the Congress and form a new govt in Odisha, Samantaray was heard saying during his address to party workers.

Responding to the Samantaray's statements, BJP leader Biranchi Tripathy said "Even cases are pending in High Court against the BJD where it has won seats. Then there is a need to wait for the results of those. BJD's situation seems like that of a fish without water. They are unable to get rid of their power hangover and they believe that they are still in power or can get back to power. They should accept the reality. We had been saying that they are with the Congress and now they are dreaming of forming a govt together, which I feel is a daydream."
