Chairman of Jindal Steel and Power Limited and BJP MP, Naveen Jindal on Tuesday said that there is a lot of potential in Odisha and his company is making a lot of investments in Odisha as there is a very favourable environment for investment in the state.
On the sidelines of the 'Utkarsh Odisha–Make in Odisha Conclave 2025', Naveen Jindal on Tuesday said, “Jindal Steel and Power has invested close to Rs one lakh crore in Odisha. A steel plant with a capacity of six million tonnes is already operational in the state. We will double its capacity from six million tonnes to 12 million tonnes within a year. And within the next six years, we will try to double the capacity of this steel plant again by making it 25 million tonnes -making it the world's largest single-location steel plant with an investment of Rs 70,000 crore.”
Stating that Odisha has a lot of potential, the Jindal Steel and Power chairman said, “We will also try to make green steel. The coal gasification plant should be operated well. We are developing the Western Dock Port in Paradip.”

“The Prime Minister is coming to Odisha today. This will give us more strength, and in the coming years, I think that this double-engine government here will make unprecedented development. The youth of Odisha will have a very bright future,” he said.

“There is a lot of growth in Odisha’s mining sector and I think that the state’s financial condition is the strongest compared to any state in the country, in which mining and industry have a huge role to play,” said Jindal.
The Chief Minister of Odisha is working on the economy. He is working hard day and night and his efforts will definitely pay off. A lot of investment is already taking place in Odisha and there will be more investment in the coming days, he added.
JSPL's Angul Steel Plant:
JSPL's Angul steel plant, as described on the company's website, is a 6 MTPA integrated facility boasting India's largest blast furnace (4.25 MTPA). It includes a 1.2 MTPA plate mill capable of producing 5-meter-wide plates (the widest in India), a 1.4 MTPA bar mill, and an 810 MW captive power plant. The plant produces special-grade and nuclear application plates for diverse industries.
JSPL's Plans for Green Hydrogen Production in Odisha:
According to announcements in September 2024, JSPL and Jindal Renewable Power Private (JRPL) signed MoU for green hydrogen production in Angul. The first phase had a target of 4,500 tonnes per annum by December 2025, to be used in their DRI units for steelmaking. It was touted as India's largest green hydrogen investment by a steelmaker.
