Ahead of the bypoll in Jharsuguda, the government of Odisha on Thursday appointed Aboli Sunil Naravane as the new Collector and District Magistrate of the district.

A General Administration department notice read, “In exercise of the powers conferred under Section 20(1) of the code of criminal procedure, the State government do hereby appoint Aboli Sunil Naravane as the District Magistrate of Jharsuguda.”

Naravane was serving as the Collector of Sonepur before being given charge as DM of Jharsuguda. She will replace Saroj Samal in Jharsuguda.

Naravane has been directed to hand over the charge to the ADM, Sonepur, and join her new place of posting immediately.

The Assembly Constituency of Jharsuguda will go to bypolls on May 10. The seat is lying vacant following the death of Odisha Minister & MLA, Naba Kishore Das.

The formal notification for the bypoll will be released on April 13.

While submission of nominations for the bypoll will continue till April 20, scrutiny of the same will be held on April 21. Nominations for the by-election can be withdrawn on or before April 24.

Voting will be held on May 10 and counting will be done on May 13.
