Elaborate arrangements have been made for free and fair voting in Jharsuguda bypoll, said Chief Electoral Officer, Nikunja Dhal on Monday.

According to Dhal, the voting will be conducted in 253 booths in the constituency from 7 am on May 10. Central forces will be deployed in 144 booths out of the total 253 booths. Along with seven companies of central forces, adequate number of Odisha Police personnel will be deployed during polling.

A total of 1,012 polling personnel will carry out voting in all the booths and 96 polling personnel have been kept reserve for replacement and other issues, said Dhal.

A total of 26 Pink booths with all-women polling personnel have also been set up which is nearly 10 percent of the total booths for the Jharsuguda bypoll.

“Provision of webcasting in all booths has been made. Already cameras have been installed and testing is done in 50 percent of booths,” said Dhal.

According to the Chief Electoral Officer, special arrangements and provisions have also been made for the physically-challenged voters. The district administration has also arranged 118 auto-rickshaws for the movement of such voters from their houses to the concerned booths.
