For a majority of students, Plus 2 science examination is most probably one of the tough challenges they face at a young age. But for some students, the challenges life has thrown at them are much bigger.

Especially to those students who have been battling for their lives. This is exactly what P Achyuta Rao’s story from Jeypore is all about.

Rao, who was diagnosed with blood cancer in 2019, did not treat the examination any less seriously than his fellow students even though no one would have blamed him if he did. With a strong determination coupled with dedication and hard work, he battled a dangerous disease like blood cancer and came up with flying colours in Plus 2 science examination, the results of which were declared on Wednesday.

“Let God be kind to everyone and let nobody suffer like me. I was diagnosed with blood cancer after my matriculation examination. Lakhs of rupees have been spent on my treatment. Forget about the examination, even survival was difficult. I had thought only to clear the Plus 2 examination somehow. In between my treatment, I never neglected my studies. I am very much happy that I have secured 60 per cent mark in the examination despite all the difficulties,” said Rao.

“It was very difficult to pursue one’s study amid suffering from a dangerous disease like blood cancer. But, I assured my parents that I will clear my examination at any cost. With their blessings, I have secured 60 per cent mark,” he added.

Rao’s parents are on cloud nine with their son’s achievement in the face of all odds.

“I have no words to express my joy. We know his struggle for survival from a dangerous disease like blood cancer. Despite his struggle, securing 60 per cent mark in Plus 2 science examination is a great achievement. He has the ambition to continue higher studies. After another round of check-ups, we will decide the further course of action,” said Rao’s father P Pratap Kumar.
