Rani Priyadarshini
Jatra actress Rani Priyadarshini on Tuesday met Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan, questioning the procedure followed in the seizure of her vehicle, as no prior notice or electronic challan (e-challan) was issued.
Rani admitted that she was driving the scooter dangerously and acknowledged her breach of traffic rules. At the same time, she contended the manner in which the authorities seized her vehicle was unjust, alleging it had caused damage to her reputation.
“The law says that if someone violates traffic rules, the violator either gets a call or a message on the mobile phone. And they will be fined. But no such thing happened in my case. They suddenly came to my house, fined me, seized my vehicle and took it away with them. I am residing in a rented accommodation and in a society. I have a reputation. From the way they came and seized my vehicle, people will decipher that I committed a crime. It has tarnished my image in the society,” Rani said
“As of now, I have deposited the fine. But who would return me the respect I have lost due to the entire act,” she asked.
The incident has sparked discussions about the enforcement of traffic laws and the processes followed by agencies in Bhubaneswar. The actress emphasised the need for a fair approach in handling such matters, underscoring that accountability should be maintained without compromising individual dignity.
As the situation unfolds, the focus remains on how authorities will balance enforcement of regulations with fair treatment of all citizens.
