In a rare gesture, Jagatsinghpur MLA Amarendra Das visited the local police station on Thursday night and advised the policemen to be people-friendly.

As per reports, after receiving complaints from the people that pens and paper were not available at Jagatsinghpur police station, Das reached there with four packets of paper and 20 pens and gave the cops a rap on the knuckles. He also advised the officials to behave well with the people.

Das has also received complaints from some people that the people visiting the police station to register complaints are suffering due to a lack of seating arrangements. In response, Das assured to build a building on the police station premises so that people can sit there comfortably and write their complaints.

“I will provide the required pen and paper for the people to write their complaints at the police station. God has given me the ability. Just show me the place on the police station premises where I will build a building so that people can sit there properly to write their complaints,” said Das,

“The government is saying that police should be friendly to people. People are afraid of visiting the police station due to rough behaviour by police. Police should show friendly behaviour to the people,” he added.

However, no comments could be obtained from Jagatsinghpur IIC in this regard as he is reportedly on Rath Yatra duty.

Meanwhile, Jagatsinghpur SP said that he was not fully aware of the incident and that proper action would be taken following an inquiry into the incident.
