Jagannath Temple gets first breastfeeding room for devotee mothers
In a thoughtful move for visiting devotees, the Shree Jagannath Temple administration on Monday finally set up a dedicated breastfeeding room within the temple premises to assist mothers with young children.
According to the temple authorities, the air-conditioned facility, located near the temple complex, can accommodate up to four mothers at a time. To ensure smooth operations, two female temple staff (JTPs) have been deployed at the facility.
With thousands of devotees thronging the temple every day, many mothers often face difficulty in finding a suitable space to feed their infants. Taking this into consideration, the administration decided to create a comfortable and private space exclusively for breastfeeding.
A medical team has also been stationed at the facility for any emergency assistance, informed the District Collector and the temple’s Deputy Chief Administrator. The initiative has been widely appreciated by devotees, who have praised the administration for its considerate approach.
“It was a long-standing demand. Accordingly, we identified a proper spot and set up the room with all kinds of facilities. Volunteers and a medical team will be made available nearby. If anyone faces any problem, we will immediately look into it,” informed Puri Collector Dibya Jyoti Parida.
