Rampant irregularities have been alleged in the recruitment of master bookkeepers (MBK) and Bank Mitras in the Jankia panchayat of Khorda district. Some aspirants were recruited for these posts in Ram Rahim Mission Shakti Block Level Federation even though they allegedly scored poorly in the examinations while those having higher scores were left out.

Bringing such allegations, many aspirants staged a sit-in outside the Khordha block office on Monday and shouted slogans against the administration. They demanded an investigation into the alleged lapses in the recruitment process.
Later, a delegation of the agitating job aspirants, mostly women, barged into the block office and apprised the BDO of the irregularities.

Barsha Routray, one of the aspirants pointed out discrepancies in the examination. “Out of a total of 21 marks in the examination, I secured 15 marks for the post of MBK. But later it was found that another candidate with 8 marks was appointed instead. How this could happen? I appeal to the administration to sort out the issue,” she added.

BDO Khirabdhi Tanaya Sahoo said that Barsha has raised objections against the merit list of the candidates. “During document verification, the candidate at the top of the list for the MBK posts was rejected while the second aspirant in the list was recruited instead. I will look into the matter. If any irregularities are found, action will be taken against those responsible for the lapses,” the BDO assured.
