Internet services suspended in five areas of Bhadrak following a youth's death in a group clash, aiming to prevent communal unrest. Santosh Parida succumbed to injuries from the altercation.

Internet services have been suspended in five areas of Bhadrak district as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order after a youth’s death following a group clash. The suspension will remain in force from 6:00 AM today until 6:00 AM tomorrow morning.

The suspension of internet services has been enforced on Bhadrak block and its municipality, Tihidi block, Dhamnagar block, and the adjoining Notified Area Council (NAC) regions.

The decision comes in light of escalating tensions following the altercation between two local groups in the Tihidi area, which led to the death of Santosh Parida, who succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical treatment.

Details of the Incident

Recently, a conflict erupted between two groups in the Tihidi area of Bhadrak. A youth, identified as Santosh Parida, was seriously injured in the incident. Sources said Santosh was brutally attacked by the other group, leaving him critically injured.

Despite receiving medical treatment, Parida succumbed to his injuries. In fear of communal tension, Bhadrak Police have enforced the suspension of internet services and deployed police platoons in the region.

Arrests Made So Far:

According to the Superintendent of Police (SP) in Bhadrak, 12 arrests have been made linked to these communal tensions. Efforts to identify and arrest other suspects involved in the clash are underway, as officials work to restore peace and prevent further unrest.

By implementing this preventive measure, the administration aims to ensure communal harmony and avert additional violence amidst the community's heightened sensitivities. Besides, the authorities continue to monitor the situation closely to ensure safety and order in the affected areas, said sources.
