Nothing can stop us from achieving success if we have determination and will power. And two women of Odisha have once again validated the statement.

Indumati Nayak of Jeypore in Koraput district and Saraswati Rout of Hajipur in Bhadrak have scripted success stories in the face of adversities and become example for others.

Indumati has been running an electrical appliances shop at Mahatma Gandhi Road in Jeypore town. She lost her husband a few years after marriage and held the fort since. She is successfully running her husband’s business since 1978 and brought up her two children singlehandedly.

Even if she has turned 80 now, she never sought the help of others to run the shop named MK Enterprises.

“After the demise of my husband, no one was there to look after the shop. I was in grief as no one was there to look after my two children. I stepped out of home and reached the shop. I had no money, but somehow God helped me. I had to face a lot of difficulties but I never gave up,” said Indumati.

The story of Saraswati Rout is no different. The passion to set up a small business helped her to be a successful businesswoman today.

Four years back, Saraswati had mortgaged her gold jewelleries for Rs 60,000 and started manufacturing home cleaning and sanitation products. Now, she manufactures as many as 10 sanitation products like phenyl, hand wash, dish wash, floor cleaning oil.

Apart from becoming self-reliant, she has also provided employment to two persons.

“My husband is a teacher. I felt bored at home and tried to engage myself in something to pass the time as well as earn some income. Therefore, I came forward and started the business. I have also given employment to two persons,” said Saraswati.
