Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday took part in a massive yoga session organised at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar to mark the auspicious occasion of the 10th International Day of Yoga. Several yoga sessions were also organised across the state.

Attended by hundreds of people including MPs, MLAs, youngsters, school children, Odia film personalities and sportspersons, the event highlighted the importance of the ancient practice of yoga and inspired others to incorporate yoga into their daily lives for healthy living.

This year’s theme ‘Yoga for Self & Society’ highlights the importance of incorporating yoga into every aspect of life for individual and community well-being. Leading the event, CM Mohan Majhi called out youngsters and all Odias to contribute to a new and healthy Odisha.

“With new hope and aspirations, we organised this auspicious event and this will go a long way in building a new and healthy Odisha. Yoga is an important aspect both for our personal lives and the well-being of the society,” Majhi stated.

“Our government will be committed to spreading the love for yoga to each and every household in the state so that everyone is inspired to live a lively and healthy lifestyle,” he added.

Actress and BJP leader Pinky Pradhan, who also took part in the event, said, “I go to the gym because our physical health is very crucial. But, if we want proper mental health along with physical well-being, we have to incorporate yoga into our daily lives.”

Similarly, International hockey player Birendra Lakra said, “Like other sports and games, yoga is also very crucial and we should not devalue it and incorporate it like any other sports in our daily lives.”

At least 700 NCC cadets from various schools took part in the 10th International Day of Yoga celebration organised at DAV school ground, Unit 8, Bhubaneswar. Not just in Bhubaneswar, several other yoga sessions were also organised in other parts of the state including Rourkela.
