The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) seems to be facing a growing wave of internal discontent, as another party corporator, Biranchi Narayan Mahasupakar, has now publicly raised concerns following the recent outburst by fellow BJD leader Amaresh Jena on Tuesday.

The signs of a widening rift within the party have become evident as more voices express dissatisfaction with the current functioning and internal dynamics of the organization.

Young Leaders Being Sidelined

Speaking to reporters, Biranchi Narayan expressed his disappointment at being sidelined from party activities.

“We are not even invited to party programmes,” he stated, adding that the party needs to prioritize youth leadership if it intends to move forward and maintain its strength. According to him, sidelining the younger generation of leaders will only weaken the organization in the long run.

Both Amaresh Jena and Biranchi had reportedly shown interest in contesting the last elections. However, senior party leadership had persuaded them to step aside at the time.

“We accepted the decision in good faith. But that does not mean we should be excluded from party activities or treated with disregard,” said Biranchi.

He further alleged that the party’s current leadership appears to be afraid of rising youth leaders and is deliberately suppressing their growth.

“There is no real development of youth leadership in the BJD. On the contrary, they are being systematically ignored,” he said.

Biranchi also added that he plans to meet party supremo Naveen Patnaik to express his concerns and will demand action against leaders who lost in the recent elections and are now allegedly undermining the party's youth base.

Despite the strong accusations, there has been no official response from the BJD regarding Biranchi Narayan’s statements.

However, political analysts believe that if such voices continue to grow louder, it could hint at deeper unrest brewing within the party, which has enjoyed more than two decades of uninterrupted power in Odisha.
