After winding up his South Africa tour, Satbir Singh, the manager of the Indian Cricket Team for the Test series in South Africa reached his hometown Malkangiri on Wednesday. 

Amid the beating of drums, he was accorded a rousing welcome all along the way from Motu to Malnkangiri. Satbir was taken in a massive rally to the DNK playground where he was honoured at a programme. Local residents were happy about the fact that Satbir started his cricketing career at DNK ground.   

School and college students were seen dancing in joy in the rally to welcome Satbir. Scores of students and some eminent personalities of Malkangiri were present on the occasion.   

Satbir who hails from Malkangiri district, was appointed by the BCCI as the manager of the Indian Cricket team for the South Africa test series. The two-match South Africa test series ended in a draw. India had won the first match.

As for his experience, he told OTV that he has gained good experience from the South Africa tour after playing in the under-16 and under-19 cricket teams. “People in India love cricket. As a manager, I shared the dressing room, hotels, and buses with great players during the series. I watched how they practiced and played. I saw how they were focused and serious for a match,” he added.

He also said that he had a chance to interact with cricketers and extra players Shardul Thakur and SK Bharath who guided him in many things related to cricket.
