Odisha BJP President Manmohan Samal and BJD MP Munna Khan
A day after India TV CNX opinion poll predicted a clear mandate for Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) if the elections are held now, politics is now active in Odisha over the predicted Lok Sabha seats for the BJP in the state.
As per the poll, NDA will get a clear majority with 318 Lok Sabha seats in a House of 543, while in Odisha, BJD will win 13 Lok Sabha seats and the BJP will bag 8 seats.
Responding to the poll, BJD MP Munna Khan said that the BJD will perform well and the 2024 Lok Sabha election results will be similar to that held in 2014. The ruling BJD will bag 20 Lok Sabha seats while the remaining one seat will be either won by the BJP or the Congress, said Khan.
“As per the ground reality, the BJD will again form the government in 2024. Such opinion polls usually are held ahead of elections and there is no guarantee that the polls will be 100 per cent correct. I think the results will be similar to that of 2014. BJD will win 20 Lok Sabha seats while one seat will go to BJP or Congress,” said Khan.
Odisha BJP President, Manmohan Samal said, “The survey is correct and we will work hard in the next months as there is ample time to strengthen our base. The poll has encouraged us to work hard instead of making us overconfident.”
Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee President, Sarat Pattnayak said, "There was a report that Biju Patnaik will form government in 1995. But, Congress had returned to power. Similar thing will happen in 2024 also, and Congress will win 10 to 12 seats."
