Cuttack was the centre point among all discussions on Sunday as it hosted the second ODI match between India and England at Barabati stadium after a long gap. All roads leading to the stadium were jam-packed as cricket enthusiasts made a beeline since early morning to gain entry into the stadium before the start of the high-voltage match and see their favourite cricketers led by Team India captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and others.

Though all action remained confined inside the Barabati stadium, a youth from Bhubaneswar stole show with his amazing ‘cricket musuem’ outside the stadium.

Smarajan Mohanty became the centre of attraction by showcasing his vast collection of tickets of cricket matches played at Barabati stadium. He has a collection of tickets of matches including ODI, T20 and IPL at Barabati stadium from 2000 to 2024.

“By keeping tickets, one can know about the matches played at Barabati stadium along with dates. I have brought around 120 tickets to showcase fans coming to the stadium for the India-England match,” said Mohanty.

Mohanty also has a vast collection of special covers issued on various cricket related themes and cricketers. He also has various cricket related stamps in his collection.

“I started collecting since my childhood. Gradually, it turned into a hobby. I do not have the ticket of the first ODI played at Barabati stadium,” said Mohanty adding that he also collects football and hockey matches played in Odisha.

According to Mohanty, collecting stamps, covers and tickets is usually tough and a costly affair. 

“I am happy that a lot of youngsters and students are getting inspired by seeing the collection on their favourite cricket players. This also gives them a scope to know and learn as well,” Mohanty added.
