Several districts of Odisha including Capital City Bhubaneswar experienced heavy rainfall accompanied by lightning & thunder under the influence of western disturbances on Friday.

Heavy rainfall threw life out of gear in Bhubaneswar as storm water flooded the entire stretch of ISKCON temple road along the National Highway. The entire area remained flooded for a long time and as a result several vehicles were stranded on both sides of the road for hours.

Huge trees were uprooted due to gusty wind in Nayagarh district. Vehicular movement came to a standstill as road transportation was snapped completely. Fire brigade personnel reached the spot and started clearing the road by sawing the uprooted trees.

As per India Meteorological Department's regional office in Bhubaneswar, several parts of Odisha are likely to witness heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in the next 24 hours.

“Most of the places in north Odisha and many places in south Odisha will experience heavy rainfall accompanied by lightning, thunderstorms, hailstorms and gusty wind in the next 24 hours. Yellow warning has been issued for many districts of north and south Odisha,” said IMD Bhubaneswar Director, HR Biswas
