If you do something willingly and joyfully, there will be no stress at all. It depends on how you take it, said Vice Chairman of L V Prasad Eye Hospital, Hyderabad and Padma Shri recipient Dr Tara Prasad Dash during OTV Foresight held in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.

"Knowledge and Intelligence are not enough in the world. Joy brings something beautiful. Why a mother is not stressed while taking care of her child and stressed while taking care of her mother-in-law. The fact is, if you do something willingly and joyfully, there will be no stress at all," he said.

"In my 42 years of career in medical science in ophthalmology, I have seen a huge change in technology, technique and telemedicine. But none has defined mental health properly. When we think about our body, we think about the body only, not the mind and soul.

"Will I become alright? Most patients ask this question to their doctors. Instead of giving a simple answer "Yes, take care of you', the doctor starts saying some medical jargons and put forth statistics, the patient's stress starts from there," he further said.

"Problems are always here. So, we shouldn't ever try to avoid them. When a problem comes, cross it," he advised.

Going to drive his point home, he said "If a doctor gets a diarrhoea patient and a heart patient, he will treat the heart patient first, giving him a priority. Similarly, a mental disease is currently not in the priority of the government. If the society grows, GDP will improve, people have enough money to survive. They don't have to queue up to buy rations. Then stress will go away automatically. And the best way to get rid of stress is to talk loudly about your problem."
