I-T raids underway at private coaching centre of BJD leader Subrat Chhatoi in Bhubaneswar

Several teams of the I-T department on Monday conducted multiple raids at a private coaching institute in Bhubaneswar, belonging to BJD leader Subrat Chhatoi. Reportedly, on allegations of tax evasion, the I-T raids were conducted at the private coaching centre.

The I-T department teams also conducted raids at the residence of Subrat Chhatoi in Bhubaneswar.

As per reports, the raid started at around 4 am on Monday and was underway at the time of publishing this news piece. The IT officials were examining various documents of the institute. Some crucial documents were also reportedly seized and confiscated, including some bank details, by the officials.

The students of the institute were also debarred from entering the coaching centre for the day.

Earlier in March 2023, a team of Central Goods and Services Tax (GST) had conducted multiple raids at various centres of the private coaching institute in Bhubaneswar on allegations of tax evasion. Worth mentioning, the institute provides coaching for IAS, OAS, UPSC and other competitive examinations.

It is alleged that Chhatoi evaded tax worth lakhs of rupees. However, the BJD leader could not be contacted to comment on the allegations.

Meanwhile, no comments could be obtained from the I-T officials in this regard.
