In a tragic incident at Balijhudi village under Barsuan forest range of Koida in Sundargarh district, Sukanti, a four-month pregnant woman, and her eight-year-old son Sukhanath were killed after an elephant knocked down their house. The collapse injured Sukanti's three daughters, now in critical condition at Rourkela General Hospital. Their father works in Bengaluru.

In a heartbreaking incident, a four-month-pregnant woman and her eight-year-old son were killed after an elephant knocked down their house, with a portion of their house collapsing on them. Meanwhile, three daughters of the deceased woman also sustained serious injuries in the wall collapse.

As per initial reports, the woman’s husband has been working as a migrant worker in Bengaluru. The woman was asleep with her four little children when the pachyderm that had strayed into their village knocked their house down leading to their death on the spot late Tuesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Sukanti and her son Sukhanath. The heart-wrenching incident has been reported from Balijhudi village under the Barsuan forest range of Koida in Sundargarh district.

The injured three children have been admitted to Rourkela General Hospital (RGH) where their condition remains critical. With their father in Bengaluru and mother dead, the children have no one to take care of them at the hospital.

The elephant has completely damaged their house, reports said.
