Huge cache of govt-supply medicines found dumped alongside canal in Odisha
Resentment brewed high at Bhandaripokhari block of Bhadrak district after a huge cache of government-supplied essential drugs was found dumped alongside a canal.
Huge quantities of life-saving medicine strips and bottles including multivitamins, calcium tablets, and others worth thousands of Rupees were found dumped alongside a canal. The matter came to the fore after locals spotted the medicines.
According to sources, the medicines are supplied by the government to various hospitals under ‘Niramaya Yojana’. Under the Niramaya Scheme, the state government aims to provide essential medicines free of cost to the people of Odisha.
However, the ambitious drive to provide 570 medicines free of cost in government hospitals seems to be thrown into the open air after the medicines were found dumped. The medicine strips have the logo of the Odisha government suggesting it to be issued by the Odisha State Medical Corporation(OSMC).
While no comments could be obtained from the hospital authorities, it is believed to be the handiwork of some medical staff or those involved in the supply of medicine of medicines under the Niramaya scheme.
