Once again the Odisha Assembly witnessed pandemonium with both the members of the ruling BJD and Opposition BJP coming at loggerheads on Tuesday over the 5T initiative of the government. Though everything was normal initially, things started getting worse soon after the Leader of Opposition (LoP) raised the recent visit of the 5T secretary to Nabarangpur district.

Taking a jibe at BJD MLA Pranab Prakash Das for his remark that ‘CMO had come to Nabarangpur and he is ready to be the ‘slave’ in order to serve the people', Mishra asked, “The 5T secretary can be private secretary to the Chief Minister, but how can he be the CMO?”

According to Mishra, 5T is being called as Team work, technology, transparency, transformation and time limit. Earlier, the BJD leaders claimed that 5T is a concept or a vision but now they are claiming that it is now CMO.

“5T can be an employee at CMO, but cannot be the CMO himself. The MLA needs to uphold his image and the way he described himself as a slave is uncalled for as such a practice has already been abolished across the country. I wanted to raise the issue in the Assembly today,” Mishra.

Mishra further said that as he wanted to raise the issue, the BJD created a ruckus alleging Central negligence. BJD leaders also created a ruckus over the slashing of rice 5kg by the Centre. The members showed posters in the House and created pandemonium.

“Earlier Odisha government took credit by claiming that it was providing rice at Rs 1 and we do not mind if they distribute it for free,” Mishra said adding that the Odisha government is not able to utilise the funds sanctioned by the Centre.

Congress MLA Santosh Singh Saluja said, “The dignity of MLAs has been defamed. CMO is Chief Minister’s Office and there is nothing wrong. But had it been mentioned Chief Minister, it would have been construed as an offence.”

Going to defend her party, ruling BJD MLA Latika Pradhan said, “The Opposition parties are getting apprehensive of the rate at which the developmental works are being done. The ghost of 5T has possessed them fully. They have continuously been referring 5T and CMO.”
