Honey trap case: More skeletons tumbling out of lady blackmailer Irani Patra’s closet

With the arrest of lady blackmailer Irani Patra in Bhubaneswar, more shocking details continue to emerge in the case with each passing day. 

It is learnt that accused Irani Patra along with her associates have duped many people of crores of rupees by honey trapping and blackmailing.

After a doctor fell victim to the accused, a student who has been preparing for competitive examinations, has now lodged a complaint at Tamando police station alleging that Irani demanded Rs 2 lakh by blackmailing him.

As per the allegation of the student, Irani called him to her home. Later, she brought rape allegations against him and demanded Rs 2 lakh by blackmailing him.

Initially, the student was reluctant to lodge a complaint due to shame. However, he mustered courage later to lodge the complaint at Tamando police station.

As per reports, many students, shopkeepers, doctors, builders and political leaders have been honey-trapped and blackmailed by Irani.

Notably, Tamando police had arrested Irani and her associates Bapi Patra, Girija Harichanan and GaneshPrahan a couple of days back. 

The police may take the accused persons on remand for further investigation into the case.

"On September 2, they called me after I had shared my number. I was asked to wait inside a room and they locked it. Already there were two persons and they threatened me that they will not release until I paid them Rs 20,000. They also took my gold ring and Rs 3,300 from my wallet,” said a businessman, who was also duped.

IIC of Tamando Police Station, Subhrakant Jena said, “Once a victim turns up at their place, Irani Patra’s husband used to lock the room. Later, they used to threaten the victims. Irani also used to threaten the victims to lodge rape case if they failed to pay money.”

Zone 5 ACP, Pradip Rout said, “We have arrested Nishikant Patra and his wife Irani Patra, their associates- Ganesh alias Manoranjan Pradhan and Shaktikant Harichandan. They have also looted money and valuables from several persons.”

After the arrest of the lady blackmailer, her husband and others, a lot of victims are now coming forward to lodge complaints.
