The Odisha government is committed to modernisation of Odisha Police so that it becomes one of the best units in the country, informed CM Mohan Majhi while talking to reporters on the sidelines of Collectors-SPs conference in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
CM Mohan Majhi said that a massive roadmap has been drawn in this regard. A special battalion will come up for Puri Temple and 1043 personnel will be recruited. The personnel will also be used for the smooth conduct of Rath Yatra. Apart from this, the state government has also decided to recruit 2098 home guards.
The state government is also taking appropriate steps to ensure that the police officials are able to discharge their duties properly without facing any problems as far as infrastructure is needed to respond during emergency situations.
While speaking to the media, CM Mohan Majhi informed that be it two wheelers or four wheelers, the state government will provide adequate infrastructure to each police station so that there are no bottlenecks as far as carrying out investigation is concerned.
“As many as 9000 motorcycles will be provided and each police station will have extra four-wheeler in this regard so that the officials can respond to emergency situations,” said CM Majhi.
According to CM Majhi, 10 police outposts will be set up in medical colleges and the state government will also set up 10 more ODRAF units. There will be one ODRAF unit for each district. At present, there are 20 ODRAF units in the state. Besides, three more battalions of Odisha State Striking Force will be set up and this will help Odisha Police in a bigger way, said CM Majhi.
