Holi celebrations marred by tragic accident in Kalahandi; two die as bike rams into tree

A tragic accident allegedly on account of rash driving marred Holi celebrations in the Palam area of Kalahandi district on Tuesday. 

Two persons including a minor boy from Alima village under the Palam Police Outpost died when their bike rammed into a roadside tree while the entire village was immersed in Holi celebrations. A pall of gloom descended on the village following the tragedy.

According to eyewitnesses, the bike was moving at breakneck speed and the rider lost control, leading to the accident. A youth identified as Debaraj Bhoi died on the spot while the minor boy who was riding pillion was critically injured.

The injured boy identified as Abhay Dora was rescued by villagers and admitted to Kesinga CHC.

However, he succumbed to injuries during treatment.

Police have launched an investigation into the accident.
