Some heart-warming scenes unfolded at the Lok Adalat Organised by the district Collector of Bhadrak recently. Holding a 19-day-old child in her arms, a woman arrived at the Lok Adalat and sought justice for her deceased husband.

The complainant, Pratima Malik alleged that her in-laws have killed her husband Tapan and even the police are not doing anything in this matter.

As per reports, Pratima gave birth to a child at a hospital in Bhadrak on December 2. However, she was shifted to SCB Hospital in Cuttack after her health deteriorated post-delivery.

As per her allegation, Tapan was called by his parents soon after and his body was found on December 16 in mysterious circumstances. She alleged not only her in-laws killed Tapan, but they even cremated his body without informing her.

She had filed a complaint at Sabaranga police station in this connection and even moved to complain to the district Collector at his Lok Adalat.

“My in-laws have killed my husband. They did not inform me nor let me see his body. They cremated his body without informing me. I demand justice and appropriate punishment for the people who killed my husband,” alleged Malik.

Asked about the case, the IIC of Sabaranga Police Station Reena Baksal said, “The enquiry will move forward only after we get the post-mortem report. The complainant has accused the parents of the victim of killing him. His body was found hanging in a room by the villagers. The couple had financial problems.”
