The activists of All Odisha Students’ Voice on Tuesday demanded cancellation of licence of Hi-Tech Medical College and Hospital and the arrest of its owner Tirupati Panigrahi in connection with the AC compressor explosion and subsequent body mix-up row.

The agitators gheraoed the official residence of Odisha Health Minister Niranjan Pujari and raised slogans against him by holding placards. The activists also hurled tomatoes at the official resident of the Health Minister.

“The health condition in the state is concerning. There are reports that the hospital is indulged in such kind of incidents and not even give compensation to the families of victims. The government is also not showing its interest in this matter. We demand the cancellation of the hospital’s licence and arrest of the hospital’s chairman,” said a protestor.

Earlier on Monday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) targeted the hospital over the identity mix-up incident and launched a scathing attack on Tirupati Panigrahi, the owner of the Hi-Tech Medical College and Hospital over the death of 3 persons in the tragic AC compressor explosion at the hospital and the subsequent controversy pertaining to the dead body identity mix-up.

The party demanded a judicial investigation into the incident.

It is to be noted that on Monday, the Chhatra Congress staged a demonstration over the issue and hurled eggs at the government quarters of Odisha Health Minister Niranjan Pujari.
