Heavy rain triggers traffic chaos in Bhubaneswar, commuters stranded
Heavy rainfall on Tuesday led to massive traffic congestion across several roads in Bhubaneswar, leaving vehicles stuck for hours and causing long queues. Commuters faced significant inconvenience as waterlogging worsened the situation.
In several areas, water accumulated on roads that had recently been opened for traffic. At Infocity Square, the gridlock was particularly severe, with vehicles taking nearly 30 minutes to cover just one kilometre.
Heavy traffic in Jaydev Vihar created several problems for residents as rain continued throughout the day. From Jaydev Vihar to Patia, the congestion caused severe disruption in daily life, with a distance of one kilometre taking more than half an hour to cover. Ambulances also got stuck in the traffic, causing problems for patients and their attendants.
Police presence was scarce due to the rain. Office-goers hurrying for work were left stranded in traffic and expressed dissatisfaction. Jaydev Vihar, Infocity Square, Master Canteen Square, and several other areas experienced heavy traffic jams on Tuesday, disrupting normal life in the city.
