Mrunal Manmay Dash

When there is a will, there is a way. This saying never gets old as it has a knack of proving itself from time to time exactly as in the case of Sasmita Lima.

A divyang with hearing loss and impairments in her voice, Lima from Balipadar village under Gajapati’s Mohana block has never considered herself a handicapped. In fact, she tried her hands in classical dance forms and became an expert in Odissi dance.

Her talent has now made her a dance teacher at Maharaja Krushnachandra Gajapati School for Blind and Deaf where she teaches dance steps to divyangs like her.

Speaking to OTV, school’s Principal said, “Lima joined this school in April this year. She was an alumnus of this school. She not only teaches well, her own dance steps are also famous in the district. Despite being deaf and mute, she has managed to create a niche for herself in the art of dancing.”

“She can summit heights of success and go beyond Gajapati if the government extends its support to her. She has become a role model for not only the divyangs but for all the people in the district,” the Principal added.
