Even though five days have passed since the gruesome killing of Odisha Health minister Naba Das, the Crime Branch, which is probing the matter, is yet to make any headway in the case.

The Opposition BJP and Congress have been lambasting the ruling BJD government over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state and held Naveen Patnaik–led government responsible for the killing of the deceased Health Minister.

Earlier, the Opposition had also targeted the BJD government over airlifting Das to Bhubaneswar instead of shifting him to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Burla, alleging lack of health care facilities at the hospital.

After remaining mum, ruling BJD responded sarcastically to why Das was shifted to Bhubaneswar.

Fumed over a journalist’s question over decision to airlift Naba Das, BJD spokesperson said Gautam Buddha Das said Naba Das was not listed in Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY), the state government's flagship healthcare scheme.

“If we did not airlift him to Bhubaneswar, you would have asked us why he was not shifted to Bhubaneswar. Burla hospital has sufficient health infrastructure,” the BJD leader said.
