Half-burnt body of woman found at in-law’s house in Balasore; family alleges murder

As per Mili’s in-laws, she committed suicide by setting herself on fire on the roof of their house. However, the family members alleged that she has been murdered for dowry by her in-laws.

Mystery shrouds the death of a woman whose half-burnt body was recovered from the rooftop of her in-law’s house in Jainagar village under Bhograi block in Balasore district on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Mili Parida, the daughter-in-law of Hemant Parida.

As per Mili’s in-laws, she committed suicide by setting herself on fire on the roof of their house. However, the family members alleged that she has been murdered for dowry by her in-laws. 

On getting information, Bhograi Police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident. The body has been sent for post-mortem. 

Tension gripped the area as the exact reason behind Mili’s death has not been ascertained yet.

After the recovery of the body, some women members of a Self Help Group (SHG) broke open the door of the house and ghearoed the police demanding the arrest of the deceased’s father-in-law and mother-in-law. Some of them also assaulted the mother-in-law of the deceased. They also scuffled with the police at the spot.

As per reports, Mili had tied the nuptial knot with Hemant’s son Bhagirathi seven years back. The couple is blessed with a six-year-old son and two-year-old daughter.
