The Goods & Service Tax (GST) officials on Tuesday conducted simultaneous raids at various locations linked to a sanitary establishment in Cuttack following allegations of tax evasion.

As per reports, the raids were conducted at four locations of ‘Panchamukhi Sanitary’ including its owner Ramesh Choudhury’s residence near OMP Square in the city.

It was part of a drive to detect alleged tax evasion. There were also allegations of GST fraud against the business establishment.

Four teams comprising around 20 officers headed by City GST officer conducted the raid and seized cash worth over lakhs of rupees and important documents.

“Based on complaints and portal verification, we conducted raids at four locations of Panchamukhi sanitary. The raids were carried out to find out the mismatch with the GST portal,” said Cuttack GST officer Biranchi Mahanandia.

“There were also allegations against the establishment that they were selling some products without billing. Everything will be revealed after proper verification,” said Mahanandia.
