A group clash during the Goddess Kali immersion in Cuttack left six critically injured. Lalbagh police intervened swiftly, deploying forces to maintain peace.

Cuttack police on high alert

At least six persons were rendered critical after the immersion procession of Goddess Kali turned violent, leading to a group clash in Odisha’s Cuttack. The injured were immediately rushed to Cuttack’s City Hospital.

When informed, Lalbagh police rushed to the spot and controlled the situation. Police forces have been deployed to avoid any untoward incident.

Sources said, the incident occurred near Royal Garden in Chandnichowk . A few youths of Mohammadia Bazar area were returning home after immersing in the idol of Goddess Kali when a fight broke out with another group of Chandnichowk Hasina Bag area.

The verbal fight soon turned ugly as both groups started pelting stones and glass bottles at each other. The groups even attacked each other with sharp-edged weapons, sources said. A shop was allegedly vandalized while three motorbikes were completely damaged in the clash.

While the exact reason for the clash is yet to be ascertained, Lalbagh police have launched a manhunt to nab the masterminds behind the group clash.
