The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday targeted the Odisha government by accusing the government officials of acting like Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leaders.

BJP State General Secretary, Prithviraj Harichandan made the remarks while reviewing the Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha project in Chilika.

He alleged that the third floor is taking decisions and allotting projects randomly without really knowing the requirements and problems of the people under the project.

Addressing a press conference, Harichandan said, “The government needs to answer who knows the problems and issues of a particular village better. Is it the Sarpanch or the Collector?”

“Moreover, some government officials have started behaving like District presidents and block presidents of the BJD. It will not be tolerated. Govt employees receive their salaries from public money. We will give them a tit-for-tat response if they are found involved with any particular party more than required,” he added.

Harichandan further alleged that the Sarpanchs and Samiti Members under Chilika Assembly Constituency had proposed required projects to the government to be undertaken under Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha scheme. But the government neglected them.

“If the neglect continues, the BJP will boycott Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha project in Chilika,” Harichandan warned.

Notably, the state government had launched ‘Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha’ in July. Under this, every panchayat will receive a sum of Rs 50 lakh to carry out several development works. And of this, Rs 10 lakh is to be set aside for the propagation of the Jagannath culture.
