A goods train derailed near Bimalagarh station in Sundargarh, Odisha. Four wagons slipped off the tracks carrying iron ore. No casualties were reported but rail services were disrupted. An investigation has been ordered.

Goods train derails in Odisha’s Sundargarh

A major derailment incident was reported near the Bimalagarh railway station in Sundargarh district, where four wagons of a goods train jumped off the tracks near the Dyam Basti area on Sunday. The train, carrying iron ore, was en route from Roxy railway siding to Bimalagarh when the mishap occurred.

No Casualties Reported

According to reports, the goods train, numbered BOSM779, was transporting iron ore when it derailed under yet-to-be-determined circumstances.

Fortunately, no casualties or injuries have been reported so far. However, the Railway officials have confirmed that the wagons derailed just before reaching the Bimalagarh station, near a densely populated settlement.

It is worth mentioning that the stranded wagons also blocked significant portions of the track, making immediate restoration a challenge.

Railway Officials Rush to the Scene

Sources highlighted that a team of railway personnel quickly arrived at the site and initiated restoration and recovery efforts. Efforts are currently underway to remove the derailed wagons and restore normal train movement, and technical support units have been mobilised to assist in the operations.

Investigation Ordered
