GM University student found hanging after exam, suicide note recovered

The body of a male student was found hanging in a hostel room of Gangadhar Meher (GM) University in Sambalpur, hours after he appeared for the exam, sources said on Friday.

The deceased student has been identified as Ghanashyam Karuan from Narla in Kalahandi. He was a Plus 3 final year commerce student of the varsity.

It is suspected that Karuan ended his life after failing to do well in the exams.

The police have recovered a purported suicide note from his room in which Karuan reportedly blamed repeated poor performance in exams for his death.

Speaking to the reporters, the IIC of Town Police Station Bulu Swain said, “We reached the hostel after receiving information about the body. We will be able to say the exact cause of his death after investigating all the angles in the death.

The police have sent the body for autopsy and launched a probe in this connection.
