A girl student was found dead under mysterious circumstances at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) at Chandamala in Bhadrak district on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Arpita Behera, a student of Plus-II Science.

As per reports, Arpita had spoken to her mother Puspalata on the phone at around 6.30 am on Saturday and later wished her brother well for his good performance in the annual HSC exams.

A few moments later, her family members received a call from the school authorities that as Arpita had been hospitalised, the family was required to reach the hospital soon. The family members rushed to the Basudevpur hospital, but by then Arpita had died.

Arpita’s family suspected foul play and held the school authorities responsible for her death. They filed a complaint at Kasia Marine Police Station alleging that she might have been killed.

Arpita’s mother said, “The school authorities did not tell me what exactly happened to my daughter in the school. They have killed my daughter. She was never under mental pressure."
