Girl’s body found hanging in hotel room in Khordha

Body of a girl was found hanging from the fan of a hotel room at Sitaram square in Jatni on Monday morning.

As per the hotel register, the deceased had identified herself as Rashmita Jena from Asilo village in Jagatsinghpur.

Sources said, she along with another youth who named himself Smruti Ranjan Jena checked into the hotel on Sunday evening as a married couple. However, Smruti never returned to the hotel after leaving the room at 11pm to bring dinner.

When the room service knocked on the door at noon on Monday, nobody opened the door for a long time. The hotel staff grew suspicious and called the police who rescued the body from the room.

The phone of Smruti Ranjan is reportedly switched off, informed sources.

The police have sent the body for autopsy and launched a probe in this connection.
