In a sweet gesture, President Droupadi Murmu took a rose from a girl standing along the way from Bindu Sagar lake and Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.

Murmu, who was on a two-day visit to Odisha, visited Lord Lingaraj temple in Bhubaneswar today. As per the schedule, she went to Bindusagar lake first to wash her feet and walked to Lingaraj Temple from there.

While walking, she saw a little girl standing on the road with a rose in her hand. Murmu immediately stopped there and went to the girl to talk to her. The girl offered Murmu the rose she was holding which the President accepted graciously.

The sweet gesture was applauded by many bystanders gathered there to get a glimpse of the President of India.

Not only that, Murmu even talked to some other girls standing there and asked them about their well-being and what classes they were in, before entering the Lingaraj temple for darshan.

Following her darshan at the Lingaraj temple, President Murmu visited the National Rice Research Institute (NRRI) in Cuttack and addressed the second Rice Congress.

Her two-day visit to Odisha concluded on Saturday after the event at NRRI.

Earlier on Friday, she had attended the convocation ceremony at her alma mater Rama Devi University in Bhubaneswar where she got emotional while addressing the students.

During her speech at Rama Devi, President Murmu had said, “The memories of college days watching a street vendor selling spicy peanuts with lemons and chillies at 25 paise are still fresh in my mind. Never had enough money to eat in the campus canteen, so I used to eat from street vendors.”
