Rescued python
A giant python was rescued from a farmhouse at Achhanda village in Dhenkanal district on Monday.
According to sources, the python was spotted hiding in a hole in the farmhouse of a villager identified as Nari Behera. Soon the Forest Department officials and a snake rescue team were informed.
The Forest Department staff and the members of the snake rescue team reached the spot and launched an operation to rescue the reptile. A huge crowd turned up to have a look at the giant reptile. Some were seen clicking photos of the serpent on their mobile phones.

With the help of the Forest Department officials, the rescue team released the snake in Kapilas Sanctuary.
“A 17-foot-long rock python that weighed around 80 kilograms was hiding in a hole in the farmhouse of a villager, Nari Behera. It took us around 15 to 20 minutes to rescue the reptile,” said Soumyajit Rath, a member of the rescue team.
