Fumed over delay in getting pakoda, Odisha man sets house on fire
Fumed over delay in getting pakodas, a man, in an inebriated state, allegedly set his house on fire. The incident has been reported from Banapur area under Nilagiri police limits in Odisha’s Balasore district.
According to sources, one Sukanti Biswal's elder son returned home in an intoxicated condition on Thursday evening and asked to make pakodas immediately. However, when the preparation for the dish got delayed, tensions escalated within the household.
In a fit of rage, he attacked his younger brother and then set the house on fire, sources informed.
Seeing the house in the blaze, villagers immediately informed the fire services department.
On being informed about the incident, Fire Services personnel rushed to the spot and brought the flames under control ensuring no further damage.
However, three houses were gutted in the fire by the time the flame was doused, sources informed.
Following the incident, Nilagiri Police detained both brothers in connection with the case.
"My elder son returned home in an intoxicated condition and demanded pakoda immediately. As it took time to prepare the dish, he threatened to attack us and thrashed my younger son. Later, he set the house on fire," said Sukanti Biswal.
While further investigation into the incident is on, no comment from the police could be obtained over the incident.
