Four persons lost their lives and one person was critically injured in separate road mishaps in Puri, Nabarangpur and Sundargarh districts on Saturday morning.

Two bike riders died in a reported road accident at Bhandaridanda village under Puri’s Satyabadi block.

The deceased were identified as Aditya Kumar Padhi from Badheisahi village and Subharanjan Senapati from Indipur village.

While the exact cause of the accident is unknown, their bodies and a badly damaged bike were spotted on the road this morning by the locals.

The police were informed and a probe was launched into the case.

“One of them was my neighbour. His nick name was Lipu. Another was from Badheisahi village. We got a call in the morning and found them lying dead on the road. They might have met with an accident early this morning,” said a local of Satyabadi.

In another mishap, a man and his son-in-law died in tragic mishap in Nabarangpur this morning.

The duo was going to attend 10th-day death ritual of a relative when a truck hit their bike at DNK Square in Raighar.

Similarly, a bike-rider was critically injured after he rammed a truck from the front on NH 143 near Indarpur village under Sundargarh’s Bonai police limits on Saturday morning.

As per reports, the biker hit the truck due to suspected poor visibility in fog. The impact was so severe that the rider was thrown away to a distance from the spot.

Following the accident, the injured was rushed to the Bonai hospital for treatment. He was later shifted to Rourkela hospital after his health deteriorated further.
