Coinciding with speculations that former Union Minister Srikant Jena may return to the Congress, former Chief Minister Giridhar Gamang’s wife Hema Gamang is all set to join the grand old party. 

While replying to the queries of journalists, Hema said she will join the Congress on January 7. 

“I will join Congress on January 7 as it is emerging as an alternative. We think we can get around 80 seats and we will work dedicatedly to bring the Congress back,” she said. 

Odisha in-charge of Congress, Ajay Kumar is scheduled to visit Odisha on January 6. It is learned that Hema will join the party in his presence.

Meanwhile, speculations are rife that former Union Minister Srikant Jena will return to the party fold, while the grand old party is mulling to lift suspensions on MLA Mohammed Moquim and senior leader, Chiranjib Biswal. 

While talking to journalists, senior Congress leader Santosh Singh Saluja hinted at the revocation of suspension of some leaders. 

“The suspension of leaders who have potential will soon be lifted. As per my knowledge, former union minister Srikant Jena will return to the party fold and suspensions of MLA Mohammed Moquim and senior leader Chiranjib Biswal will be lifted. The Congress will fight united and form the government,” he said.
